Food For Thought

In this activity, you will compare name brands to generic brands when shopping. You will also evaluate the difference in price when buying generic brands.

  1. Download the Food for Thought .docword documentor .rtf.
  2. For Part One, visit a store in your area to “price shop” for the items listed on the mock grocery list chart. (or just go to a grocery store website or amazonfresh to see the prices)
  3. Compare the name brand with generic prices by filling in the missing blanks in the chart. (Some items might not have a generic so compare it to a different brand.)
  4. Total the list of brand name items and generic items at the bottom of the chart.
  5. For Part Two, answer the questions at the bottom of the document in complete sentences.
