To choose an appropriate topic sentence, read        the paragraph and think about its main idea and point Support       your claims: use       your research to support your claims. Research is in the form of data,       facts, quotes, research articles. Scholarly resources are important as       they reflect credible sources.  You may also include research that opposes your claim,       this reduces confirmation bias. Transitions: effective essays       show the connection between paragraphs with transitions. These can be       integrated into the topic sentences with transition words. Conclusion      (no more than 1 paragraph).
