Abstract Coverage of refugee issues has continuously been criticised as being inhumane as recently witnessed with a report being published by Ethical Journalism Network(EJN) in the year 2015. The EJN cited that most of the coverage was hijacked by politicians’ propaganda thus there was a failure to tell the true story. However some media platforms were commended for reporting stories which were empathetic focusing on the suffering of the refugees. Introduction In today’s world the word refugees elicit different opinions when mentioned. It has become a significant issue due to conflicts that are being witnessed in different parts of the World perhaps the mostly referred to are the Syrian refugees. Therefore the media has taken an active role in shaping the opinions of citizens as most people rely on the of the mainstream media are now awake to the fact that they have unfairly covered the plight of the refugees and are actively making what was wrong right now.
