Reduced Inequalities Presentation

Description

I have other classmates doing different sections of the PowerPoint. So I will just need to do 3-4 sections so it should be really simple. I’ve done research assignments from a topic so I will give all the info and just make the PowerPoint that I will have to present. I will upload the PowerPoint outline so you can just follow that, and I will also upload all of the small assignments we had so you can get the info for the PowerPoint. .

From the perspectives of a selected group of undergraduate students from the University of South Florida (USF), our project focuses on one of the United Nations’ (UN) sustainability goals. The purpose of those sustainable goals is to progress towards equity and justice for every country globally. Within this course, we showcase our analytical skills by selected scholarly sources, develop a much deeper sense of our research, and provide the best, plausible solution(s) from the evidence we had gathered as well. As a group, we decided that we would like to tackle inequalities based on each group member’s values. As a matter of fact, from the UN and their website, the international organization and their targets are: [1] to assist “the bottom 40 per cent” and their income to progressively grow above national average, [2] empower and promote the social, economic and political inclusion to all, [3] to grant “equal opportunity and reduce inequalities of outcome” that includes (but not limited to) “eliminating discriminatory laws, policies and practices” [4] making sure that the reformed laws and policies is protective and fair to all sorts of people, [5] ensure that there is “regulation and monitoring of global financial markets and institutions” that are adaptive, [6] be more inclusive in the many voices that relate to global institutions and policies, especially the representatives and their agency, [7] managing migration policies to be more safer, secure and through and make the handlers of migration accountable , [8] focus on resources to help uplift underdeveloped countries across the globe, within World Trade Organization guidelines, and [9] encourage most developed countries to assist countries that are identified as least developed countries. (United Nations, n.d.).

The reduction of inequalities, specifically any practices or policies that are discriminatory to a specific group of people, is what we would like to tackle issues with this goal in mind]. We see that inequalities can range from social (many killings of non-white minorities by law enforcement) to the economic (increasing number of jobless, non-white people) aspects of disparities. Imagine what is occurring in America is also happening on a global scale. The Caribbean and Latin America region is a primary example of outwardly discriminate policies and discourse of each subjective category (race, gender and sex, age, (dis)ability, health, and many more). It is vital to distinguish between the proper and improper terms to address the issue correctly. It is also essential to treat this topic respectfully since this is a sensitive topic where topics and debates regarding race still flare up in America. Last year, a recent death occurred, specifically the end of George Floyd, one example of what has happened in America. Other inequalities do not have to end with a violent outcome; they can be outwardly discriminatory against other ethnic groups, including portraying such groups in the media. With less of our prejudices, we hope to be more mindful of our readers and to participate in this discussion professionally.

We, as a group, decided to share our thoughts about what we think of sampling low-income areas and choosing whether if they were adequately handled fairly with care during what we also experienced ourselves: the COVID-19 pandemic. Scientifically known as SARS-COV-2, the Coronavirus is an airborne, virial disease that incapacitated most human activities and expressions; a powerful, small disease that had us wearing masks for over a year. At the time of this paper, the vaccine is distributed to all marked areas across the nation as of early February, and many institutions such as USF are lifting the “mandatory mask” restrictions for fully two-shot (or one) vaccinated people.

With the given time for this project, we intend to research in the local area of Tampa Bay and will narrow done to a targeted population during this research. Our focus will be the distribution of resources related to the COVID-19 pandemic since it is still ongoing. If possible, we could compare the before and the duration of the pandemic. Still, we will start at the beginning of the pandemic happening around February last year.
